Most campaigns now live vertically first. Cropping a widescreen master rarely works, so we plan every set-up for the tallest frame and the widest frame at once.

Frame lines on the monitor

Our DPs shoot with 9:16, 4:5 and 2.39 guides on the same monitor. If the action doesn't work in all three, we move the camera — not the edit.

Vertical isn't a crop. It's a different film shot at the same time.
